Eric Carmen, the former frontman of The Raspberries has passed away at the age of 74.

Carmen, a singer-songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist, became popular as the lead vocalist of the Raspberries. He had numerous hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s, first as a member of the Raspberries and then with his solo career, including hits such as “All by Myself,” “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again,” “She Did It,” “Hungry Eyes” and “Make Me Lose Control”.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen. Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend,” Eric’s wife Amy Carmen wrote in a statement.

“It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy,” she added. “Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss. Love Is All That Matters…Faithful and Forever.”

Carmen married three times. He was first married to Marcy Hill from October 31, 1978, to August 3, 1979; the marriage ended in divorce. His second marriage, to Susan Brown, was from May 22, 1993, until 2009. The couple had two children, Kathryn and Clayton, before divorcing. He married his third wife, former newscaster Amy Murphy, in 2016.
